URBAN SKETCHING
Introductory to intermediate

Sketching on location in your hometown or on your
travels is a wonderful way of recording your own life
and the life around you. There are Urban Sketching
groups popping up all over the world and it is a
wonderful way of connecting people and making
new friends. In this class we will explore different
techniques and media and use a thematic approach
to cover different types of subject matter such as
architecture, nature, people and events. We will learn
basic perspective, mark making, figure sketching and
working with speed
and accuracy to record
the things around us.
Robyn Bauer is a full time
artist living in Brisbane’s
Paddington. She is well
known for her urban
landscape paintings and
drawings of the world
outside her own back
door. She has taught
Urban Sketching internationally at the Urban Sketching
Symposium in Manchester in 2016 and is a founding
administrator of Urban Sketchers Brisbane. Her sketchbook is
her constant companion.
