One simple idea can spur a million…one
experimental mark can lead to several; one intention
can seal the practice; just one idea can lead to a
coherent body of work to take you beyond mere
dabbling. Create a body of work that is thematically
based according to your personal research and
life experience, yet approached from an initial
experimental and intuitive space. Problem solving
and risk taking are important components as well as
the ability to accept mistakes and work with these
as ‘enablers’. It’s exciting beyond words when a few
ideas that are often intuitively sourced based on your
inherent interests, have the capacity to change your
life, opening windows to
your artistic freedom.
Catherine Parker is a painter
and mixed media artist. An
avid, curious traveller, she seeks
respite in makeshift studios,
sometimes with a portable
sketch book involving ‘on the
road’ works. Parker recently
exhibited in the Kochi Muziris
Biennale Fort Cochin, India and
has just completed her solo exhibition: Parallel Worlds at
SGAR – Spiro Grace Art Rooms, Brisbane.
