COVER STORY

So why did Michael make Aliyah? Michael grew up in a very traditional Jewish family. His late grandmother was the president of the largest Jewish organization in the U.S., Hadassah. When he visited Israel in 1977 he just knew that one day Israel would be his home. He became religious as it relates to Judaism at the age of 16. He said that Jews pray three times a day and that one of the components of the daily prayer is a blessing where Jews ask God to gather in the Jewish people from the four corners of the earth.

“It became apparent to me that for the past two thousand years that people recited this prayer. For the most part they couldn’t act on it, because it wasn’t possible, all they could do was to pray.”
