What does New York Mets baseball have in common with returning the Lost Tribes of Israel? For former Deputy Director of Communications under Benjamin Netanyahu, there was a very real connection. The year was 1977 and for Mets fans what would become known as the “midnight massacre” the trading of star pitcher Tom Seaver to the Cincinnati Reds was the most remarkable thing they might remember from that year.
For Michael Freund it was the second most memorable thing. The top on his list was his first visit to Israel in 1977 which led to his migrating (also called Aliyah) from New York to Israel in 1995.
