The golf season has officially begun

It is hard to believe that by the time this article is published, The Charbonneau Women’ s Golf Association will have one month of the 2025 golf season completed. With the Opening Day Scramble and regular Tuesday and Thursday play, we are starting off with a bang!
BOOK
Our Opening Day
Scramble began with a delicious breakfast and the first general meeting of the year. At 9:30, we played in a shotgun start scramble, and the golf Gods were with us as we finished the game without rain. At the general meeting our co-presidents explained some of the decisions that were made over the winter months that directly affect members. Last year, members were charged $ 5 for the Membership Handbook. This year, the handbook is available to all members at no charge. In addition, the $ 5 entry fee for Scrambles was eliminated. With 133 members strong, our healthy budget can sustain these items without charging fees or increasing the cost of dues.
A new committee called Members Voices was organized for the purpose of vetting new ideas with the membership at large before the ideas are put into action. The new ideas can come from members to the board or directly from the board. The seven members are Coleen Larson, Judy Wilcox, Chris Shaw, Mary Powell Prewitt, Candice Guise, Cathy Hartlaup and Barb Barber and are led by our co-vice presidents, Deb Nemes and Sue Schneider. The group represents different flights, long-time members and new members. Another exciting announcement was the decision to add a payout game on the first Tuesday of every month this year. In the past the only payout occurred on Thursdays. Tuesdays were added as additional club sanctioned play days with no monetary awards.
On May 8, our second scramble of the year,“ Swing into Spring” begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a. m.. At 12:30 p. m. Co-Presidents Amy Day and Lynne McMaster will hold a General Meeting. All members are invited to attend. After the meeting, lunch will be served featuring a variety of salads, rolls and desserts. The book to sign up and pay for lunch and greens fees is in the Pro Shop. If you are playing in the scramble, you must also respond to the Golf Genius invitation. If you have not had an opportunity to play golf this year, we hope to see you on the course soon to experience the“ Joy of Golf.”
