Cypress Branch auxiliary raises over $ 45,000 at fundraiser
What a success it was ! On Saturday , March 25 , many of you came to the Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby to attend the dinner and silent auction hosted
WIESENTHAL by the Cypress Branch Auxiliary of Boys & Girls
Aid . With 165 attending , we raised over $ 45,000 .
Elaine Swyt and Margie Wiesenthal , co-presidents of the Cypress Branch , were happy to welcome participants from Charbonneau and all over the Portland metro area .
The ambiance of the club was exceptional , and the dinner was delicious .
Thank you for the generosity of so many whose donations made our silent auction a terrific success .
Elaine Swyt , co-chair of the event , and her great team of volunteers worked to put together over 80 baskets and auction items . The bidding was very active — on golf packages , gardening and kitchen baskets , date night treats , dozens of gift cards , fine jewelry , original art and much more .

“ We are thrilled with the response to this year ’ s silent auction , Elaine said . “ Thanks to the incredible generosity of Cypress members and business donors , the always amazing help of our team of volunteers , and the beautiful venue ; this was one of our best auctions yet .”
Attendees could also choose to purchase a golden ticket for $ 50 . The winner of the drawing of this ticket received two roundtrip flights to anywhere Alaska Airlines flies .
Chris Bosak , also co-chair , is a retired dietician and food service expert . She recalled that “ a random invitation to a Cypress Chapter of Boys & Girls Aid luncheon in 2019 introduced me to the most amazing assemblage of women .” She went on to say that “ these ladies give of their hearts and souls to provide material and financial resources to children who just seek what many fear is unattainable : a home filled with love . Our annual auction banquet is the cherry on top of the work that is done every month of the year to bring joy and a sense of worth to the young people in the care of Boys & Girls Aid .”
Dianne McMichael , a very active Cypress Branch member for many years , has said many times : “ It ’ s about the children . It ’ s for the children .” We agree with her . Indeed , that is the purpose of what we do all year .
All proceeds of this event will go to Boys & Girls Aid to support its services for Oregon youth and families , including foster care , adoption services , pregnancy counseling and shelter and housing services .
“ The work and support of our Cypress Branch volunteers is remarkable ,” Suzan Huntington , Boys & Girls Aid president & CEO , said . “ These ladies come together and make a real difference and impact on the lives of children in need .”
Lisa Willette of Cascade Hasson , Sotheby ’ s International Realty was the gold sponsor for the Crab & Rib Dinner . Bronze sponsors included Rachael Nelson of Edward Jones , Jay Puppo of State Farm Insurance and the Riener Team of RE / MAX Equity Group .
This is Boys & Girls Aid ’ s first fundraising event of 2023 . It will be followed by the first Foster Love Gala on May 5 .
