Hanging with the girls The summer that I moved into my home in Charbonneau , I made a new friend after meeting her at our neighborhood pool . She
FERGUSON was very friendly and outgoing and wasn ’ t put off by the noise and antics of my young , energetic granddaughters . One evening that summer , my friend and I went to a dinner at CCC . As we approached the dining room , she said to me “ Let ’ s not sit at the table with all the single women !” This comment took my breath away ! Why not sit with our friends ? Who else are you going to sit with ? I

felt very uncomfortable and , needless to say , that was the last time I went to the club for dinner with that particular person , who has since moved out of state .
There is nothing embarrassing about hanging out with a group of wonderful women . There certainly should be no stigma attached to our table . And truth be told , our table is usually one of the loudest and
happiest tables in the room . And with the creation of Solo Sisters , we now fill several tables in a room and we are proud of it ! We are the ones singing along with Tony Starlight , or dancing in the aisles to the sounds of bands and guitar duos . At our monthly gatherings , we try to come up with new program ideas , like the painting class last Fall at Red Chair Farm , but aren ’ t afraid to repeat some of our favorites like

Wine Tasting in the Pavilion or our annual holiday party . We have enjoyed movie nights with popcorn , game nights with potluck dinners and have started going to happy hours at local restaurants , those that are brave enough to accommodate 20-25 fun-loving women !
And who always has your back ? Your girlfriends ! If you are sick , we will get you to your doctor ’ s office , help you pick up a prescription and put a dinner in your oven . If you go away , we will water your plants , feed the cat ( better board your dog ), have bananas on the counter and milk in the fridge when you get home and make sure your home is toasty and warm when you walk in the door . We share movie and TV show ideas and , since we often read the same books , we have fun discussing them together - even the clunkers !
