May 2023 THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER 11

Committee Spotlight

By ANNE SHEVLIN

Committee helps manage Charbonneau ’ s assets

The true assets of Charbonneau are its residents , who bring a rich background of experience from business , health care , law , education , government , entertainment and nonprofit organizations , to name just a few . When community members bring their experiences together to work toward making Charbonneau the best it can be , we all benefit . Melding these assets together provides an environment rich with fresh ideas and expertise .
Charbonneau also has another type of “ asset ” - our physical buildings and structures that provide our community with places to work , play , socialize , engage in sporting activities or sit quietly with a book or a friend , taking in the beauty of our unique neighborhood .
Charbonneau ’ s Asset Management Committee oversees the overall function and upkeep of these assets , making recommendations for maintenance , security , repair and replacement as needed . These assets include the Clubhouse and Pavilion , Activity Center , Sports Center , RV Lot , Marina , Edith Green Park , the “ tot lot ” ( children ’ s playground ), ponds and monument signs at both entrances , the wood street and directional signs and the four swimming pools and related structures in Country Club Estates . The committee also reviews the Charbonneau Country Club Reserve Budget on an annual basis and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors for alterations to the plan .
The committee meets monthly and is chaired by board member Anne Shevlin ; other members include residents Karen March and Kathy Fuller , general manager Jim Meierotto , property manager Rick Schram and board member Linda Owen .
The most recent project that members of the Asset Management Committee saw from start to finish was the planning and oversight of the building of our new Activity Center . A subcommittee was established in the fall of 2019 and worked tirelessly with a number of enthusiastic residents , the architect , contractor ,

members of the golf club board , interior designers and landscape architects , to develop the plans for the building , which opened in April 2022 .
There are four big projects underway in 2023-2024 to improve the following
assets : building an enclosed structure over the outdoor courts at the Sports Center for year-round pickleball and tennis , replacement of the marina , adding additional amenities to Edith Green Park and replacing the exterior siding , windows and doors of the Charbonneau Clubhouse . Much of the funding for these projects is accounted for in Charbonneau ’ s Reserve Budget and the remainder through the Capital Expense Account . The plans for each of these projects have been submitted to the city of Wilsonville for approval . We are poised to begin each one as soon as approvals are received .
We currently have room for two residents on the Asset Management Committee . If you have a career background in community development , planning , business or leadership , or have strong communication and collaboration skills , we welcome you to consider joining the committee . If you are interested in how things are run in our community , how decisions are made to improve our assets and how we prioritize our plans , you are welcome to attend an upcoming committee meeting , no obligation . We meet the fourth Friday of each month . Please contact Anne Shevlin for more information at a . shevlin @ charbonneaucountryclub . com .
