ISLAY MIST CEILIDH
AT LANCASTER MARKET
Saturday, May 28, marks the
second Lancaster Farmers’
Market of the 2016 season. One
of the best ways to celebrate
Spring is to go out and enjoy all
of the bounty that the greening
gardens have to offer. From early
produce to hand crafted wood
work to delicious cookies fresh
out of the oven to greenhouse
grown plants for your home
garden, the Lancaster Farmers’
Market has all the local goods
you may be searching for.
While you walk from booth to
booth, looking at all the neighbor
grown produce, you can enjoy
some amazing music from Islay
Mist Ceilidh. The Islay Mist
Ceilidh is a group of musicians
from Northern New Hampshire
who play traditional Celtic
music. The 14 members of the
ensemble perform with fiddles,
flutes, whistles, cellos, bodhrans,
accordion and guitars. Their
repertoire includes centuries old
tunes, some Scottish country
dance music, jigs, reels, waltzes
and strathspeys. Many of the
members wear the tartans of
their family heritage. A Ceilidh
is a popular gathering in many
Celtic countries where everyone
contributes to the evening's
entertainment. Islay is an island
region of Scotland, famous for
whiskey making.
So, come to the Centennial
Park in Lancaster, Saturday,
May 28, from 9 to noon. The
neighborhood farmers, bakers,
and artisans are waiting to see
everyone.
