A few weeks ago, the children made flower boxes and varnished them. This week the children added the colorful flowers to them to be given to their mothers for Mothers Day. Corey Bellam photo. LENNOXVILLE SCOUTS BOTTLE AND CAN DRIVE Saturday morning, we took a drive over to Lennoxville to attend the 6th annual 1st Lennoxville Scouts Bottle and Can Drive and food collection for the Cornerstone Food Bank in Lennoxville. We arrived to find the boys and girls hard at work sorting out the seemingly never-ending flow of cans that were coming in by the trailer load. This collection wasn't only bottles and cans, it was also a collection point for the Cornerstone Food Bank based in Lennoxville. We were greeted by a group of smiling faces as we entered the collection area. We spoke with Chris Drew who is a leader for the Scouts. We asked for an approximate amount that was raised and were told last year they raised a bit over $1,300 and this year should be more than that. Chris also told us that this wouldn't be possible without the help of the Provigo Food Store in Lennoxville, where they haul pickup loads too for trade in. The collection site was a busy place all morning with the rattle of cans filling the air. Chris Drew also told us that 2016 is going to be a busy year for the Scouts because they are raising money to attend the Scouts Jamboree in 2017 being held in Nova Scotia. –Corey Bellam UPCOMING EVENTS ABOVE THE BORDER There will be a dance at the ANAF Unit 318 at 300 St. Francis Street, Lennoxville, Que. on Saturday, May 21, at 8 p.m. with music by Mike Patrick and Kylie Cote.
