Obituaries
(Continued from page 15)
Janice T. Malloy
She was born in Lowell,
Mass., on March 27, 1949, a
daughter to the late Sidney and
Mary McMahon.
Jan was a dedicated aide,
friend, mentor, and “mom” to
children in the Colebrook school
system for 30 years. She always
knew the right approach to help
each of her students and how to
make a difference – whether it
be through a homework assignment or a problem at home. Her
gift for connecting with students
through humor and tough love
will live on both in the school
system and in the community.
Jan loved the North Country
and Colebrook sports, especially
watching her sons play for Colebrook Academy. She always had
a deep appreciation for how welcoming her neighbors and the
entire community was after moving to Colebrook in 1978. As
much as she gave back to the
school system and community,
Jan believed it could not equal
the friendships and love she
received in return. When not
watching sports or at school Jan
loved to cook and work in her
many flower gardens.
She is preceded in death by
her loving husband, Neil Jordan
Malloy, who passed away on
March 14. Jan is survived by a
son, Brian Malloy of Colebrook;
a son, Neil William Malloy and
his wife Marycia Mal loy of
Colchester, Conn.; one brother,
Brian McMahon and his wife
Gloria of Hampstead; one sister,
Peggy Foley and her husband
Bob of Lowell, Mass.; four grandchildren, Lily Malloy and Mark
Backus of Bedford, Jordan Malloy and Neil K. Malloy of
Colchester.
Jan is preceded in death by a
brother, Sidney McMahon, Jr.,
and a sister, Pat (McMahon)
Slimp.
The family will receive friends
and neighbors at the Jenkins and
Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook on Friday, May 20, 2016,
from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial for
both Neil and Jan will be held
the next morning, May 21, at 11
a.m. at St. Brendan’s Catholic
Church in Colebrook with The
Rev. Craig Cheney as celebrant.
Burial will immediately follow,
with military honors for Neil, at
St. Brendan’s Catholic Cemetery.
