DIAMOND KITE Constructing a Kite (continue from page 1)
Draw segments AD and BD.
(5) Hide the perpendicular bisector.
Construction a Kite using Two Circles
This construction is based on the idea that one diagonal of a kite
divides the kite into two isosceles triangles.
(1) Draw points A and B.
(2) Use the circle tool to draw a circle from A to B.
(3) Draw point C.
(4) Use the circle tool to draw a circle from C to B.
(5) Draw point D as the other intersection point of the two circles.
(6) Draw the segments from A to D to C to B to A.
(7) Hide the circles.
Constructing a Kite
Ο χαρταετός - Francisco Jose de Goya
y Lucientes - 1777-1778
This construction uses the fold symmetry of the kite to construct one. Play the construction below, and
practice it on the drawing pad to the right.
(1) Use the segment tool to draw segment AB.
(2) Use the point tool to draw point C.
(3) Use the reflection tool to reflect point C over segment AB. This new point is called C' (C-prime).
(4) Use the segment tool to draw segments from A to C to B to D to A.
(5) Use the hide tool to hide segment AB
