Marinos Ioannides
Prof. Marinos Ioannides is the founder and Director of the UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage at Cyprus University of Technology, where he leads a research laboratory with a funding portfolio exceeding € 12 million. Trained in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Stuttgart, his doctoral work on 3D volumetric reconstruction earned multiple international awards. A defining figure in the field, he coordinated the H2020 Virtual Multimodal Museum Plus project, which shaped the Digital Cultural Heritage agenda within the EU’ s Horizon Europe Framework, and his Marie Skłodowska-Curie Training Network was recognized as one of Europe’ s five best life-changing projects of the decade. General Secretary of ICOMOS Cyprus for two decades, he is also a Corresponding Member of the German Archaeological Institute.
Issa Makhlouf
Issa Makhlouf is a Lebanese writer, poet, and art critic based in Paris. He holds a PhD in social and cultural anthropology from the Sorbonne, and is the author of numerous works of poetry, fiction, and criticism. He has also translated works by French and Latin American authors into Arabic. His essay on Al-Bunt appears as part of the Genius of a Place series, published by Skira in partnership with the Saudi Ministry of Culture.
