(Grades: 1 - 6)
Science and imagination
are expressed through
colour, drawing and
construction. Teams
create large,
featherweight sculptures
for brilliant installations,
indoors or out.
Materials $3 + HST per student
New LRT’s Lightscape = Math + Light + Colour
(Grades: 4 - 12/sec V) Inspired by cj’s
collaborative artwork at Blair Station with
2,000+ dichroic-glass rectangles, students
will count, measure, cut and assemble light-
weight materials to recreate the
mathematical, kinetic and cast-light effects
of cj’s art. The project will explore pattern,
lines, planes, space, massing, composition,
colour-theory, transparency, reflected and
projected light; while introducing the
concepts of architecture, engineering and
space-glass. Pre-cut shapes will be provided
for the very young; the project will become
more complex for older students.

Visual Arts
New
Shimmer and Shape your Subject Mural Residency Develop imagination and
(Grades: K – 12/sec V) painting skills: design, mix and apply colour,
add texture to create brilliant murals with
impact. Expand on curriculum themes, social
change or your school’s community spirit.
Students will share their reflections on their
work-in-progress.
Design, drawing and embossing
exercises on lightweight shiny
material, subjects can be developed
around current class themes.
Students will create low-relief pieces,
mobiles or sculptures as individual
works or as larger public art for the
school. Tactile and imaginative, fun,
simple or complex, these projects
involve scissor-work, colouring,
bending, folding, piercing, threading and
assembly. Pre-cut shapes will be provided
for the very young; the project will become
more complex for older students. Makes an
excellent project for whole school
participation during a residency.
