Issue Number 04 | November 2019 Under 18 Scotland Rugby Trial Written by: Harry Murray, S6 At the start of January I was ask to attend the U18 Reds and Blues training squad sessions. This is run by the U18 Scotland rugby programme and is taken very serious amongst the players and staff. The training sessions are trials to play in a game against the Celts & Druids which is the U18 Welsh team in Cardiff. There are five training sessions and each one we are trained by a number of top tier Scotland coaches. The experience is unbelievable as I get to experience what it’s like at the next level of rugby. It was an honour to be selected and I’m very excited to see what the future holds. RSC Glasgow and West of Scotland Local Section – Top of the Bench Regional Heat Marr College competed in the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Glasgow and West of Scotland Regional Heat. For the first time the Regional Heat took place at two venues simultaneously with a live feed connecting the two venues. The competition was based around interactive team activities with chemistry as a central theme. The team consisted of Kathryn Stewart (S4), Erin McKergow and Eilidh Baird (both S3) and Eve Moncrieff (S2). The pupils unfortunately did not get placed but were a credible 10th out of 25 schools. Well done to the team! 6 New Staff Positions We would like to congratulate Mr McLaughlin and Mr Alford who have taken up the shared Lead Teacher Developing Young Workforce (DYW) post. Also a massive congratulations to Mrs Cleland who has been appointed to the post of 0.5 Development DHT following a competitive selection process. Additionally, Miss Pringle will take up the post of 0.5 Acting PT of RMPS.
