World Baton Federation
International Cup Secondary Schools Road
Race Championships
A massive congratulations
to
Jake
Murray
who
recently
competed
in
France at the World Baton
Twirling Federation (WBTF)
International Cup. The
Secondary
Schools
Road Race Championships
took place in Pittencrieff
Park, Dunfermline on the 2nd
October. Conditions were
perfect for the four boys
representing Marr College:
Sam Rice (S2), Jamie Phillips,
Jordan Phillips and Ross
McNiven (S3).
He competed in the Junior
Men Level B category and
managed to achieve gold
medals for both baton and
artistic twirl and a bronze
medal for solo. A fantastic
achievement – well done
Jake!
Sam was the first of the
group to complete the
course - a distance of 1.5
miles.
S1 Induction
At the start of term, we
held
a
welcome
assembly for our new S1
students to introduce
them to Marr College.
They then took part in a
procession around the
school building which
allowed for parents,
guardians and staff
to cheer them on
during their first morning
at secondary school.
We would like to issue a
warm welcome to our
S1s and hope they now
feel settled in their new
school!
3
He finished in 4th position
with a time of 6min. 56s – a
fantastic
achievement.
Jamie, Jordan and Ross all
moved up an age group
category this year and
completed a distance of 2
miles. Jamie was the first
Marr pupil to reach the
finish line achieving 8th
place with a brilliant time
of 11min 48s.
Well done to the boys who
were a credit to the
school and role models for
younger pupils interested
in running and athletics.
