Marr College Rugby Conference Update
Marr College Rugby has had a fantastic start to the year. We have stepped up
into the L200 Conference which now sees us competing against 5 Glasgow
Private Schools in Saturday morning fixtures from P6-U18. This has provided our
players with a high level of competition on a regular basis which is only good
for their individual and team development.
We have had some fantastic performances in the Conference so far and
currently sit in a tie for 4 th place. Our S1 A & B teams have certainly been the
shining lights so far winning all their matches to date and regularly fielding 30
players.

Our U16 & U18 teams have both had a fantastic run in the Scottish Cup with
both still involved. The U18 squad are in the Quarter Final of the Cup and take
on High School of Glasgow on Tuesday 5 th November for a place in the Semi
Final. They have overcome Lomond School, St Aloysius College and The
Glasgow Academy to reach this stage.
The previous round match with The Glasgow Academy was a fantastic game,
we scored a try in the final minute of the match to take the win 15-12 in front
of a crowd of more than 100 spectators on the College playing fields.
We are striving to provide playing opportunities for all pupils at Marr College.
We run a Girls Rugby club on Mondays after school from 3.45-5.00pm. We
regularly have 15 girls attending but are always on the lookout for new players.
Our aim is to play competitive fixtures against local schools in 2020.
For more info on the Rugby program or should you wish
to get involved in one of our teams please speak to
Colin Sturgeon or Ewan Bulger in the PE department.
