We were visited by members of the team from Tilda Rice . Our S3 Health and Food Technology pupils had taken part in the Scottish Schools 2022 Street Food Challenge set by Tilda and one of our teams were shortlisted ! Kelsey and Kristian came up with a vegan burrito with a focus on healthy and sustainable streetfood that young people would enjoy .
They worked hard over a number of weeks carrying out research on rice , where it comes from and how it is processed , it ’ s economic importance to local economies , and it ’ s health benefits . They then investigated what kind of streetfood their peers would enjoy , which ingredients were most popular , and came up with the recipe . Finally , they were challenged to consider how their dish could be made sustainably , and ways in which their product could reduce environmental impact . The judges were very impressed with the dish – well done Kelsey and Kristian !
