Written by Lola McMorran , S3 On Friday the 18th of November we celebrated Children in Need . There was a variety of activities going on around the school and a JustGiving page set up for people to donate to the charity . Everyone came into school looking their best wearing something yellow in addition to their uniform . There were plenty of activities to keep you occupied during lunch time .
A school favourite was the open mic karaoke held in the plaza . It started with an amazing performance of " Sweet Child of Mine " sung by Alexander ( S3 ). Ben Lauder ( S6 ) gave a beautiful rendition of his own song , " You " and then went on to sing a duet of Taylor Swift ' s " Don ' t Blame Me " with Tess ( S5 ). The very talented Isobel ( S3 ) played the piano and Mr . Alford from Computing Science did an outstanding performance of " Mr . Brightside " that had everyone cheering . Ewan sang " Candy " by Paolo Nutini and Elizabeth ( S1 ) sang a duet of " Somewhere Only We Know ".
Another well attended activity was Soak the Teacher . This was great news for students who had the chance to throw a wet sponge at a teacher – all for a good cause ! You could pay £ 1 to get a sponge to throw . Miss Wyllie , Mrs Mancini , Mr Marshall , Mr Lindsay and Miss Robson were the teachers that got soaked ! S1 and S2 students also had the luck of watching a very eventful game of dodgeball during their last 2 periods . By the end of the day £ 999 was donated just £ 1 below the target ! It was a very successful Children in Need day and everyone left school with a smile on their face !!
