Success for Holly – S2 Girls into Engineering
Congratulations to Holly Neil ( 2F2 ) who was successful in her application for the University of Strathclyde ’ s Young Weir-Wise Discovering Engineering for Girls event in January 2023 . Holly was one of just 150 pupils chosen across the country – against stiff competition for places . She will spend two days on the University of Strathclyde campus and will hear from staff at the University and colleagues from the Weir Group who will provide an insight into studying and working in the field of engineering . They will also partake in a number of practical activities run by University of Strathclyde staff and engineers . We have developed a proud history of success in this event , and are excited for Holly since it is the first one since 2019 to be held on campus rather than online . We look forward to hearing all about it , and wish Holly all the best !
S2 Young STEM Leaders at Struthers Primary
Bath Bombs ! Egg Drop Challenge ! Airpowered rockets ! S2 Young STEM Leaders visited Struthers Primary in December , to work with P7 pupils and lead and inspire them by teaching them exciting and fun STEM activities . The Young STEM Leaders had worked hard all term developing their leadership and communication skills , and becoming expert in teaching their activities . The P7s said it was the best day of P7 so far , and said that our S2 pupils were kind , helpful and good fun – and asked if they could visit every week ! We are so proud of Ellie Burgess ( 2F2 ), Ollie Butler ( 2P ), Finlay Chrichton ( 2P ), Rebecca Grieve ( 2P ) and Evie Osborne ( 2F1 ) – you were brilliant ! You have had an amazing journey so far and we look forward to presenting you with your well-deserved Young STEM Leader certificates at Junior Prizegiving in the summer .
