Scottish Challenge Plate Semi Final
Written by Mr McElnea 1st XI Hockey Girls are into the Scottish Challenge Plate Semi Final after defeating Peebles High School in an enthralling game . Having travelled down to Peebles High School , Marr got the game underway in ideal hockey conditions . Peebles started the game on the front foot , creating the better of the chances , but the Marr defence stood strong . Towards the end of the 1st half , Marr won a short corner which was converted by Laura Baker ( Prestwick Academy ). 1-0 !!!
Going into half time at 1-0 up , the girls had to fight to hold onto their lead , which was eventually taken away when Peebles levelled the game up at 1-1 with 10 mins to play . The pressure was on … Peebles were piling forward in attack and a tiring Marr midfield battled to keep the game level at 1-1 . Full time .
Full time and 1-1 meant we were onto running penalties , best of 5 . Up steps Isla McAllister in goal … SAVE !!!! Marr took the lead early in the shootout , but again Peebles fought back to level it up 2-2 after 5 pens . Sudden death time … Abbie Allan scored her pen , Peebles missed … sending Marr through to the Semi Final .
A huge thank you to Peebles High School who were fantastic opposition and hosts , and a big thanks to Ian and Ady for volunteering their time to take the team away . Good luck in the Semi Final !
