TRAIL MIXER A few years ago, somebody sent me a link to an RT America story on Detroit. That was my introduction to D. Alexander Bullock. In the coverage, Bullock was riding through neighborhoods (or, what's left of them) with a young white reporter who wanted to know why the city seemed so divided. Rev was very insightful by what he thought were the reasons for it. You know how in Detroit, there was a time when you could usually identify somebody by last name? Well, I had a friend at Crosman Elementary when I was in first grade over 40 years ago. His name was Kenneth Bullock. So, I sent an email to Rev and asked if they were related. He replied that they weren't. I immediately scratched it from the checkdown. Then, the brother got a nightly radio show on 910. I started to tune in and would even call in from time to time. The young brother was always thoughtful and considerate. That is why I was always puzzled by folks from Detroit acting like the young brother was from another planet. It wasn't until after I saw his performance on Shatori Shakoor’s Twisted Story Tellers that I started to re-think it. Could it be that the very same folks who try to put him in a box are simply jealous?
