April showers are supposed to bring May flowers. But, that’s not what I’m seeing as folks spent the last 30 days counting down to how they’d report on President Trump’s 100 days in office. The PUBLISHER’S Pen Y’all know who these pundits are. So, there is no real need to list them here. All you have to do is tune into cable news. Meanwhile, what’s getting lost in the sauce is what’s happening at the local level in places like Chicago, Detroit, and Philly. Don’t get me wrong. The young brothers and sisters on these same shows are both articulate and photogenic. That’s cool and they’re in demand all along the public speaking circuit at colleges and universities across the country. Fine with me. I ain’t mad at ‘em. I often wonder how committed these influencers are to true democracy, though. Meanwhile, Congresswoman Maxine Waters and Senator Elizabeth Warren were just in Detroit for the NAACP Free- dom Fighters Dinner. By the end of the week, Facebook Chairman and CEO Mark Zuckerberg was meeting with exec- utives at Ford Motor Company. And, now Zuckerberg is a potential candidate to run for President of the United States in the Year of Our Lord 2020? Man, listen…. Think about it: If you’ve got national politicians giving speeches in Downtown Detroit amid a roomful of Black church folk in April 2017 and a 32 year old, white boy billionaire from Harvard meeting with one of the world’s largest auto makers, who do you think sold the most artificial intelligence ? By the way, where is Senator Booker from New Jersey?
