Are you
ready for
change?
“Change happens
when the pain of staying
the same is greater
than the pain of change”
- Tony Robbins

Anna Maharaj is another transplant recipient who
received a kidney from a deceased donor in 2002.

It’s a very emotional service, my daughter and I light a candle every
year to acknowledge and remember the gift, but also the loss my donor
family reflects on the day their loved one passed away.
naya cunningham
Thank you for taking the time to read my transplant story. I have just
turned forty; this was a profound moment for me, a time to reflect back
on my transplant journey, through all the highs and lows. I can honestly
say I will never waste a single moment of my life.
Nobody knows what the future will bring, however without organ
donation; I wouldn’t be here to share this story.
Anna
Both Lisa and Anna are incredibly grateful to their donors for giving
them a second chance at life and the opportunity to see their
children grow.
Organ Donation New Zealand (ODNZ) says that one donor has the
potential to save the lives of up to ten people through the donation of
organs (heart, lungs, liver, kidney and pancreas) and tissues (eye tissue,
heart valves and skin), while also transforming the quality of life for the
recipients and their families.
Help say a huge thank you to donor families and living donors by
sharing your own message of thanks on social media, or by sharing the
Thank You Day video available on the Organ Donation New Zealand
website www.donor.co.nz and www.facebook.com/organdonationnz/
Alternatively you can help encourage conversation about organ
donation at your work place, community group or school by printing
and displaying one of the Thank You Day posters.
