9 . to the four shorter lengths using a circular saw . Next , make recess holes for the screws , and attach the boards using screws before gluing and screwing the side boards to the top board . Once the sides are attached , attach the base to the concrete top , and the bottom board to the wooden base . Cover the recessed screws using dowels . Apply glue to the end of a dowel , stick them into the screw holes and then saw off level to the board . Finally , sand the wooden base and dowels smooth and give the base a couple of coats of polyurethane in a matt finish .
