When overseas buyers visit the Karoo, it is often not only the fibre itself that impresses them, but also the space, the landscape and the way in which Angora goats form part of a much larger ecosystem. In the panel discussion on design and value creation, Katrina Nel said buyers see“ the vastness and beauty of the Karoo” and then understand so much better what it takes to produce mohair.
“ The fibre comes from a landscape where production, conservation and survival are inseparably intertwined.”
