Organic fertilisers are slower release and improve soil structure, which helps plants cope.
Greywater wisdom: Greywater can be a useful resource in summer, but it needs to be used carefully to protect both your plants and your soil. If you plan to reuse household water regularly, stick to mild, low salt cleaning products to reduce the risk of salt build up over time. Avoid using greywater on edible leaves and herbs that are eaten raw, and rather direct it to ornamental beds or to the soil around established plants. Where possible, rotate greywater with fresh water to help flush salts through the soil profile. Apply greywater directly to the soil rather than onto foliage, and use it in moderation so that the area does not become waterlogged.
