Deon Stewart is a man ’ s kind of man . An artisan welder by trade during a previous life and currently a beekeeper , proprietor of honey-based products and restauranteur , and curator of a glass bee hive along with his better half , Marelize . All under the trade names of H & D Honey Products and Scrumpy Jack ’ s restaurant .
Deon : “ I worked as a welder at Spoornet until the early nineties , but always had a keen interest in beekeeping . After I left the company , a friend asked me to teach him to weld . The wonderful thing was that he kept bees . So I moved to where he lived for six months , taught him and in return , he educated me in everything there is to know about the beekeeping business .”
