ALANA LORENS (Cont.)
VOODOO DREAMS
BLURB EXCERPT
When her big trial goes bad, corporate attorney
Brianna Ward can‘t wait to get out of Pittsburgh. The Big
Easy seems like the perfect place to rest, relax, and forget
about the legal business. Too bad an obnoxious—but
handsome—lawyer from a rival firm is checking into the
same bed and breakfast.
Attorney Evan Farrell has Mardi Gras vacation plans
too. When he encounters fiery and attractive Brianna,
however, he puts the Bourbon Street party on hold. He‘d
much rather devote himself to her—especially when a
mysterious riddle appears in her bag, seeming to threaten
danger.
Strangely compelled to follow the riddle‘s clues,
Brianna is pulled deeper into the twisted schemes of a
voodoo priest bent on revenge. To escape his poisonous
web, she must work with Evan to solve the curse. But is
the growing love they feel for each other real? Or just a
voodoo dream? From the corner of his eye, he saw Copper step aside
to allow Brianna to catch a Krewe bead strand, shiny red
plastic with a medallion bearing the likeness of a goddess,
which she added to her thick collection of many colors.
Growling, Evan stepped closer to Brianna, deter-
mined to impress her. At the back of the float, he spied a
tall brunette in lilac, who pointed at Evan, then leaned
forward to toss him a lengthy string of 3/4 inch pearl-like
beads—a real prize.
After the float had moved on, he turned to Brianna.
―I think these would suit you better than me.‖
Copper‘s stare burned into him, and he gave it right
back. Yeah, I did that. What are you gonna do about it, Copper
man?
―They‘re incredible.‖ She reached out with a finger to
touch them, wonder written on her face. ―But they‘re
yours.‖
Evan grinned. ―Here. Let‘s conduct this formally. I‘ll
give you this for one of yours as consideration. That
makes it a valid contract.‖
She laughed softly. ―Always business with you.‖
She sorted through to find a shorter red string that
matched a stripe in Evan‘s suspenders. Evan placed the
pearls around her neck solemnly and took the red ones.
―Very beautiful,‖ he said.
***** Amazon Review by J. A. Davis: ―Read Voo-
doo Dreams and let the book take you on an adventure
into the back swamps and bayous where magic, spells,
voodoo and gris gris bags still exist. A delightful read.‖
