LAURA HALEY McNEIL (Cont.)
INTERVIEW
MFRW:
What
are
your
thoughts on love scenes in romance
novels?
LHM: I want actual love, not sex
and then love, maybe. I love books
with lots of sexual tension, which is
hard to write because there‟s no rea-
son for a couple not to fall into bed
and then decide if they like each other. I‟m not
much for sex scenes, so I usually skip them in
the books I read. I have to admit, I prefer sex
scenes in books written by men—they‟re short,
but then of course these men think they‟ve just
had the best sex ever and I‟m thinking, “That‟s
it?”.

What can we expect from you in the future?
I‟ve started a new series called Beaumont
Brides. I just received my cover and I love it. .I
hope you do, too. I‟ve always wanted to write a
brides‟ series. I love Barbara Freethy‟s series, so
I wanted to write one like hers. I‟m so excited
about this series and the characters. They‟ll be
younger so it‟s more New Adult, but it‟s fun to
write. I‟m also working on Book Seven of the
Crystal Creek Series. There‟s a very famous
musical, and you‟ll recognize it when you see
my new cover. I belie ve that musical was writ-
ten all wrong, so I wrote it the correct way. I
can‟t wait to release it.

Do your fans‟ comments and letters influence
you in any way?
I love hearing from fans. Many fans give me
comments on things I‟ve been thinking about.
They want a story about two of the characters
that I‟ve been trying to finish but have been
too busy to work on. I hope to release the
book next year. It will be a book that answers a
lot of questions.
