Harrows Market
The revenues generated from the sale of disc and power
harrows in the country inclined from INR ~ crore during
FY’2011 to INR ~ crore during FY’2016. The sales of disc
harrows have dominated this market and have been the
primary force driving the revenue of the harrows market in the
country. Power harrows are a relatively new implement
introduced into the market. The high price and maintenance
cost of power harrows has resulted in niche demand for this
implement arising from large farmers and agricultural
cooperatives. The total sales of disc and power harrows in the
country declined to ~ units during FY’2016 from ~ units during
FY’2011. The rising cost of production caused manufacturers to
increase the price of harrows during the review period.
However, the Indian government has been promoting farm
mechanization by subsidizing the price of farm machinery and
implements as well as supporting bulk buying through front-
end agencies. The agricultural harrows market achieved a
CAGR of ~% in terms of revenue during the period FY’2011-
FY’2016. In terms of sales, the harrows market witnessed
decline in CAGR of ~% during the period FY’2011-FY’2016 due
to declining sales of disc harrows in the country.
