Mario's Energy Adventure 2014 | Page 2

Chemical Energy Mario is stopped by a giant ice block and a cheep cheep lake Above him are two flowers, one ice and one fire An endothermic reaction is caused by the ice flower’s intake Eating a fire flower causes an exothermic reaction to transpire The exothermic reaction releases energy allowing Mario to melt whatever “I’ll use the fire flower to melt the ice block cleverly” Mario used the fire flower to complete his first endeavor The endothermic reaction absorbs heat from it surroundings Allowing Mario to turn ice anything Mario- ”I’ll use the ice flower to prevent me from drowning” Mario used ice to pass the lake before it starts melting Chemical energy allows for easy storage, i.e. the flowers. Exothermic reactions release energy whereas endothermic reactions absorb energy. The law of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed. The flowers follow this. They aborb energy from their surroundings, like with the ice flower, or they release energy, e.g. the fire flower uses energy from Mario’s body
