Art festival
For the past 40 years , resident volunteers have dedicated some of their time and talent to the Charbonneau Arts Association : Board of Directors – 12 members Festival Organizing Committee – 20 members Music Stage Organizing Committee – 5 members Many volunteers supporting each event – more than 100 volunteers
The quality of the art has increased in the past few years , attracting applications to exhibit from artists and artisans far from our local area . Because there are more applicants than available space , a small group of resident art professionals , led by Leslie Leeper , will select only the best art for our event . Mark your calendar for August 11-13 to reserve some time to attend this event . We are also looking for sponsorships from businesses and individuals who would contribute financially or in-kind to the festival . Visit our CAA website for more information at www . CharbonneauArts . org . All proceeds from this event will fund grants to local high school fine art teachers .

Grateful teachers share their thanks
Art teachers at Canby and Wilsonville High Schools have expressed their thanks for the new resources available to them and their students thanks to grants provided by Charbonneau Arts Association . Wilsonville High School ’ s Angennette Escobar shared photos of students in her Latino Art and Culture Class beginning their flower paintings on large canvases . The flowers are based on the embroidered huipils from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec , in Oaxaca , Mexico . Canvases and easels were purchased with grant money from Charbonneau Arts Association . Canby High School ’ s Jennifer Dorsey expressed her gratitude for new potter ’ s wheels , which replaced long-broken equipment .

Music stage concerts
For the past two years , CAA has expanded art to include music concerts . A small committee has been formed , made up of CCC staff and CAA volunteers to jointly plan , schedule and host a series of musical acts in Charbonneau . In general , we are working with the Market Café to offer a buffet option to concert goers . A new sponsorship option is the Reserved Table Sponsorship – for $ 500 , at designated concerts , a person or business will receive a reserved table and eight free concert tickets ( food buffet tickets are not included ). There is no limit on the number of Reserved Table Sponsors at each concert . All proceeds from concert events will fund grants to local high school performing arts teachers and projects .
April 21 will be the next event on the schedule at Charbonneau Clubhouse , featuring Southern Nights Country Western Band . Led by Charbonneau ’ s own Wayne Richards ,

2024 Board Officers
We are still seeking someone with an accounting or bookkeeping background to help with the treasurer duties . John McLain is president , treasurer , Music Stage Organizing Committee chair , and Jazz Festival organizing chair . He needs some help with any or all of these duties . If you ’ d like to join in any of our fun , please contact John McLain at john @ mclainco . com . You don ’ t have to be an artist to participate , just have some skills and enthusiasm for organizing and fundraising in support of the performing and fine arts . We treasure our ability to contribute to the quality of life here in Charbonneau , and , near or far , it ’ s a joy . We hope we ’ re not alone in that effort and welcome new members .
