Spring is on the horizon
Sports Center construction project
The tennis club and pickleball clubs are anxious for the construction to begin on the new
MCLAIN building to enclose the
existing outdoor courts at Charbonneau . The materials have been ordered with delivery dates in March and April . The permits from the city of Wilsonville have not yet been approved . The best guess for completion of the project is still July of 2023 . The total membership of the Sports Center ( pickleball and tennis ) is expected to surpass 400 members using the new Sports Center facility by the end of 2023 . The majority will be residents .
Pickleball
Debbie Stonebraker would like to give a warm welcome to all the new pickleball members ! And a welcome back to our established members as well . With a new facility in the works , it ’ s hard not to be excited about the future of Charbonneau Pickleball Club . On most of these cold winter days , dedicated pickleball players will be on the courts playing . The free January resident non-member clinic facilitated by Donna Roisom had a great turnout of over 20 participants . Several signed up to be new members . A special thank you to helpers Lisa Wisthoff for all her advertising and help organizing this day of the clinic . Also thank you to pickleball players who showed up to assist Donna : Alice Schwartz , Carol Bell , Collen McKenzie , Lou Traeger and Steve Ryan .
A clinic will be scheduled for March , so stay tuned and check your email often . It will also be facilitated by Donna Roisom , pickleball pro . Spread the word . Our club is growing and we are at 150-plus members !
There will be a March 31 mixer for existing members from 6:30-9 p . m .

The Pickleball Club membership
A Charbonneau resident practices CPR at a recent clinic .

A big thank you to Colleen McKenzie , pickleball membership committee , and Stacy Naccachian , tennis club secretary , for their hard work putting this together . If you have any questions about court reservations , they are available to help answer questions .
Think warm . Whether you are venturing outdoors to play on these cold days or indoors and in warmer weather , warming up your joints and muscles is more important than you might think . We all “ warm up ” by doing a bit of dinking and getting a feel for the paddle before we play . It is wise to do some stretching of all the major muscle
Charbonneau residents try out pickleball . groups . It should take several minutes to bring your heart rate up a bit and bring blood flow to your large muscles groups , including your heart , and it signals your body to move precious fluid into the joints to lubricate them . Like a well-oiled machine , if you are warmed up , your body will be ready to respond and go after that irresistible pickleball shot with much less risk of injury .
The Charbonneau Pickleball Club had a hands-only CPR and use of an AED session on Jan . 31 . Thanks to Carol Hill , and the collaboration of the TVFR , it was a huge success ! The delightful folks from TVFR outreach / education group and first responders from two fire stations oversaw this wonderful event . The Pickleball
