Results of first Charbonneau food bank drop-off are in

Wilsonville Community Sharing Executive Director Leigh Crosby informed us that contributions to the Jan . 25 donation event amounted to 120 pounds of paper goods and 225 pounds of food items for the Wilsonville Food Bank . In addition , Charbonneau residents donated $ 180 in cash and gift cards .
The second drop-off held on Feb . 22 saw our community again generously respond to the needs of our Wilsonville neighbors .
Food and assistance are an ever-present need in Wilsonville . One of the greatest challenges is to maintain an even flow throughout the year . Our impulses and generosity spill over during the holiday season . By April and May , however , the food bank ’ s shelves begin to show empty spaces . Still , our neighbors ’ circumstances remain in place . The goal is that a concerted and sustained effort by all of us will effectively contribute to meeting the year-round needs of the community .
The families and individuals the food bank assists are faced with three main monthly bills : rent , car payments and food . Usually , their income and resources allow them to meet two of them but not all three . And here is where our help for the food bank comes to the rescue .
The drop-off this month is from 8:30 a . m . to 1 p . m . March 22 in the Activity Center . The items most in need for this month include : hot or cold cereals ( Costco ’ s sizes are too big ), laundry soaps ( powder or pod , not liquid ) and liquid dish soap ( the Dollar Tree is suggested ).

The city of Wilsonville is hosting a Wilsonville Town Hall for state Sen . Woods , D-Wilsonville , and state Rep . Courtney Neron , D-Wilsonville from 12-1 p . m . on Sat , March 4 at City Hall .
The city is running a special Charbonneau SMART shuttle

While we coordinate with the food bank regarding the product or items most in need in any given month , it is quite surprising what the food bank also can accomplish with relatively modest amounts of cash . For example , $ 30 can feed a family of four for five days . So , if obligations and busy schedules preclude you from buying items , remember that cash and gift certificates are also highly appreciated and of enormous assistance to the effort .
Please think about the food bank , when you ’ re ready to give and perhaps approach a neighbor or mention it to your friends whenever enjoying your favorite group activity .
