We ’ re establishing committee for Country Club Estates

Hello everyone . The theme for this edition is “ Hello , spring ” and I think most of us are ready for spring to get here . It seems to me that I write a lot about the same thing every
NEWBORE month . Unfortunately , the pace of many projects is slow . For those capital projects , many require city of Wilsonville permits and that is a thorough , but agonizingly slow process .
The Fitness Center now has 500 resident members . I think that is wonderful as it means that more than one out of six residents is a member . Way to go members ! At some point we may have to cap the number of members so that folks can get a machine without a long wait when they go there . Right now , our unscientific observation is that people can usually get on a machine
when they arrive . Remember , please do not rest on a machine between reps if someone is waiting .
Country Club Estates ( CCE ) is the area east of French Prairie Road on the very east side of Charbonneau . This area consists of 224 homes and is the only area in Charbonneau that is not part of a local homeowners association ( HOA ). The Charbonneau Country Club ( CCC ) is its HOA and provides its services . Accordingly , it is the only area in Charbonneau that does not have local governance , a group way to provide information to the CCC , the ability to get information from the CCC or a way to distribute information to the CCE community . To rectify this , we are establishing a CCE Neighborhood Committee . Initially it will consist of nine CCE resident members , plus several CCE subcommittee residents , and will be responsible for transmitting information between CCE and CCC and to the residents in CCE . It will also provide CCE budget review , architectural control of CCC requirements and some operational oversight of pools and common areas , as well as having a social committee . Hopefully , this group will provide a good informational link and help build a more cohesive and informed community .
In other CCC Board of Directors and staff news , the board is considering
adding resident golf cart parking to the area northeast of the Activity Center to encourage the usage of golf carts while attending CCC events . The annual Architectural Control meeting was held in February . This meeting consists of the CCC Architectural Committee and Architectural Control personnel from each neighborhood HOA . The meeting results in a recommendation to the CCC Board for any proposed changes to the Architectural Standards found in your Resident Directory . A neighborhood HOA presidents ’ meeting was also held and primarily focused on security and external information on items such as tolling . As advertised on page 16 of the February Villager , applications for CCC Board positions are open until March 13 . If you would like to serve , please take out an application from the office at the Activity Center .
On a separate note , the Sacajawea Committee reports that the fundraiser for the bronze statue has passed the halfway mark . In addition to many silver and gold donations , there have been seven platinum ($ 1,000 ) donations . Please keep an eye out for fun future fundraisers in April , May and June .
The Charbonneau Golf Club continues to be profitable and is doing well . The 2020 merger has helped to bring the two organizations closer together than previous
years as well . Under the new siding project a door will be created from the old library that will allow access into the Market Café . Residents will be able to play ping pong or pool while enjoying their favorite beverage or food from the café .
Turning to the tolling topic , we now have a tolling relief bill , SB 771 , introduced by our Sen . Aaron Woods , D-Wilsonville , that would allow residents of the city of Wilsonville to apply for and receive an exemption from Boone Bridge tolling . We ’ ll see how far the bill gets . You can help by writing emails of support and sending them to “ members of the Joint Committee on Transportation ” at https :// olis . oregonlegislature . gov / liz / 2023R1 / committees / JCT / Overview . I did testify at the January meeting of the Oregon Transportation Commission ( OTC ) and hopefully it wasn ’ t just listening to me , but heard me as well . The OTC has now adopted a policy statement that would grant a rate reduction for areas that have frequent tolling gantry usage and no other way to go around it . Hopefully , that will apply to us if SB771 doesn ’ t get passed .
Whew , hello spring . Am I glad the first few weeks of the year are over . Like many of us , I decided to lose weight per my New Year ’ s resolution . Unfortunately , I had to go on two diets because I wasn ’ t getting enough food on just one ! Have a great March everyone .
