Two years into our business we were asked to try a store on Bowen ’ s Wharf in Newport . The welcome and support from that community helped us to get where we are today . We intend to build on this with new friends here at 10 Sims Ave .

COMPANY INITIATIVES

We try to use local companies and products whenever we can . Anchor Toffee has participated in community fundraisers since the very beginning . In 2022 we will be doing some demonstrations and tastings , with donations going to the Alzheimer ’ s Foundation .

HOW WE STARTED

Anchor Toffee began around the same time that Peter and Katie Kelly were blessed with their daughter , Michaela . The urge to create a family business led to the candy that Peter had been making for years as a starting point . Hope and Main , the small business incubator , provided the opportunity to get started without a huge investment .

WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE

Our toffees are made the way that candy was made 100 years ago . Nothing artificial , wholesome dairy , delicious house roasted nuts , and excellent American Chocolate from Guittard . Everyone who comes into our shop gets a taste of our toffee and a warm welcome .

WHAT ’ S NEXT ?

We are going to be working on a few more flavors of toffee and truffles . For our vegetarian and vegan friends we are researching vegan options for both sweets , as well as sugar-free options for people with dietary concerns .
