Planning for Edith Green Park commences

BarryDunn , LLC hired to facilitate master plan for Edith Green Park

BY KATHY HARP
In June , 2021 , the CCC president and the Asset Management Committee chairperson formed the Edith Green Park Master Plan Subcommittee tasked with developing a master plan for Edith Green Park . That site was built for baseball , basketball and soccer , but there are no leagues or clubs using the park for those activities . It has been approved for use as a dog park by the CCC Board of Directors .
The plan will determine the current and future needs and desires of the community based on public input and will prioritize the needs and desires for upgrading and improving EGP . A decision was made to “ outsource ” the planning process to professionals with experience in park planning . At the November CCC Board meeting , Judy Brennan and Kathy Harp were appointed as co-chairs of the subcommittee . CCC board member Anne Shevlin and residents Ken Teunon , Bruce Eder and John Hector were added to this subcommittee . Proposals were submitted by several firms and the CCC Board awarded the contract to Berry- Dunn ( B / D ), a national parks , recreation and libraries consulting firm .

a plan to reimagine the park . B / D conducted virtual focus-group meetings in mid-February via Zoom . A letter was emailed to the community explaining how to sign up for these focus-group sessions . A site analysis was completed in early February . In addition , all CCC residents will have a chance to voice their opinions through an online survey conducted through Survey Monkey in early March . A Community / Profile / Demographics Analysis and a Trend Analysis is currently in the process of completion . The final step will be to share the plan with the community . Information on this project will continue to be sent out to residents via email and posted on the CCC website . ing our doors , all 70 of them , is a small hiccup which may slightly delay our opening . It will be an interesting dynamic to watch which organizations use the new building , which ones use the existing building and which ones change their meeting times now that additional space is available . The other good news here is that the new fitness center will be larger with more equipment and we lowered the price from $ 60 per six months to $ 40 per six months . Speaking of exercise , I had my annual physical and the doctor suggested that jogging would add years to my life . He was right . I tried it and the next day I felt much older ! Happy spring everyone .
