Seasoned Niner by Cheryl Barnum
Robyn Andrus has lived in Charbonneau for 12 years . She was living in San Diego and bought a home in Charbonneau as an investment to rent out
FIEWEGER for nearly six years . She is from Portland and graduated from Grant High School . Robyn attended University of Oregon for two years and then transferred to Pacific University and earned her degree in Occupational Therapy . She just retired two years ago . Robyn has three children , a son and daughter in the Portland area and a daughter in Palo Alto . She also has eight grandchildren . Three dogs have received a lot of love from Robyn . Currently she has Lola , a rescue dog .
Robyn joined the Niners seven years ago so she could learn to play golf . She
didn ’ t know anyone at first but was fast to make friends and now enjoys many friendships . She likes Golf Genius as she has a chance to play with golfers similar to her skills and golfers who are better . She likes playing with the more experienced golfers as they are so helpful and encouraging .
Robyn has been involved with the Charbonnettes and can be seen in many skits and also as a dancer . She also was on the End of the Year Banquet Committee and a Pink Ball Golf Tournament chairman . With energy to spare , Robyn was on the board of Charbonneau Solo Sisters , the Niners Big Sister Program for new members and served on the board for the Cypress Branch of Boys & Girls Aid in Charbonneau . She recently started playing pickleball and loves it ! Robin enjoys being on committees because she has met such a nice group of women . This year Robin says she ’ s going to play better because “ having a positive attitude ” is her goal . You go Robyn !
Welcome new Niner Helen Mesker
Helen and her husband , Martin , are from the Netherlands . She moved here when she was 21 years old . They moved to Canby and opened Garden Flowers in Aurora . The family has been in the flower business for four-to-five generations . They have three children living in Aurora and Boise and a daughter in Virginia . Their seventh grandchild is due in
March !
She and Martin have been married 41 years . She looks forward to playing golf again ! “ Does Martin play golf ? Absolutely not . Probably why we have been married so long !” But he still plays soccer .
Helen enjoys gardening , cooking and baking ! Welcome , Helen .
Recently the Charbonneau Garden Club took a tour of the Oregon Garden and had 30 members attend , per Maureen Larsen . They plan on scheduling another tour , so let Maureen know if you are interested .
The Niners Board met for further discussion on ‘ Pay Outs ’ for the 2022 season . We were considering the ‘ Pay to Win ’ which would be the $ 3 entry . We also discussed no payouts for the season . After Board Discussion and an Executive Board meeting , we approved ‘ no payouts ’ this season .
We will post scores on the bulletin board outside the Pro Shop and on the Niners website . Golf Genius will record the Niner having the most low gross and low nets scores for each flight . These golfers will be recognized at the End of the Year Banquet with a nice gift .
We are beginning our Pink Ball Golf Tournament meetings for our 19th year ! Our goal is $ 100,000 and we are already securing sponsorships . Co-Chair , Brenda Gardner has been busy ! She chairs

Niner Leesa Gango will chair our scrambles this season . She has shared some fun events being planned . One change that will be effective for playing in a scramble and participating in winnings will be that a handicap is required .
However , no handicap is required for our Member Guest Day . We will be giving our guests a gift bag filled with ‘ goodies .’

Communications Chair

By STEVE SWITZER

Villager content must be approved by Board of Directors

In January we welcomed our new editor for the Villager , Corey Buchanan . In meeting with Corey and discussing the Villager , it prompted
SWITZER the Communications Committee to review the Mission
Statement passed by the Board in 2019 .
The Charbonneau Villager is the official publication of the Charbonneau Country Club ( CCC ) Board of Directors . The mission is to provide Charbonneau residents , businesses , visitors , and potential residents with monthly information about news and activities in and around Charbonneau .
We are frequently asked about submissions . We welcome opinions and views from our residents . We welcome ideas for stories and columns that will inform residents about happenings in and around the community . However , the venue for your comments , opinions , and ideas is through the board and staff , not necessarily through the Villager . If there is something that you think is important to share , bring it to either the CCC staff or a board member . They will
pass it on to the Communications Committee for review .
The Villager is not a newspaper in the traditional sense . It is our monthly newsletter and represents the views and positions that have been approved by the Board of Directors . We have a policy on the publication of resident content submissions . A copy of that policy is available at the CCC office . The policy states , among other points , that we reserve the right to reject submissions deemed to be untruthful , misleading , libelous or defamatory , or that violate a person ’ s right to privacy . With the political season heating up , we wish to remind our readers that submissions reflecting a political point of view or support of a candidate or measure are also not allowed .
This Board continues to be committed to inclusiveness and transparency . Our
committees moving forward with the Activity Center , Edith Green Park planning , and the Event Center ( current clubhouse ) reflect those values . Our newly redesigned website and email blasts are designed to more effectively communicate with our residents . The board is made up of nine volunteers who spend multiple hours each month for the betterment of our community . We work hard to keep our financial house in order , our facilities and assets in the best condition and to keep pace with an active lifestyle enjoyed by so many . Our emergency planning and preparedness has been recognized by other communities as a model for their neighborhoods .
We sometimes disagree on how to get there , but we never disagree on our goal in making and keeping Charbonneau the special place that it is .
