GENERAL MANAGER
Letter From The General Manager
The weather this February 2021 did not cooperate as much as we had wanted , leaving the course unplayable so many days during the month of February , Colonel Robert Hopkins dropped by to visit and expressed a concern about how he was experiencing a case of chronic boredom ! He advised me something had to be done soon or Gladys was going to lodge a formal complaint .
Just in the nick of time , thanks to the creative thinking and thoughtful generosity of our members , the upstairs banquet room adjacent to The View has magically been converted into a game room with Ping Pong tables , Cornhole sets , miniature golf and a regulation Pool table . There ’ s plenty of space to be in compliance with mandates , hand sanitizer is available and we consistently sanitize after each use . This area is a great space to retreat to after dinner for some spirited , friendly competition or just a bit of practice to stay moving in order to maintain that quick eye / hand coordination if it happens to be too cold or wet to be on the course or courts .
A special shout out to the Garvis , Straughan and Jason Melvin families for allowing us the temporary use of their ping pong and pool tables . This great new amenity has been a tribute to the kind generosity of members willing to contribute for the greater good of the club . All your ideas combined with your team spirit helping make Lexington Golf and Country Club the great community it is today and long into the future . Colonel Hopkins , how about a game of pool ?
If you have not had a chance to see the fun set-up of gaming options , be sure to drop by , order your favorite fare to-go , spread out , space-out and enjoy . Of course , you can always dine in the Tri-Brook Grill then retreat to the game room upstairs where beverages , fun and games mix well for everyone . Family friendly fun .
Past Board President Kermit Rocket also dropped by my office to officially extend a very kind welcome and share similar stories of members volunteering to help with projects and contributing time , money and a lot of hard work to keep the club viable through difficult times . I shared with Mr . Rocket some of the stories I have heard during my short tenure and how this proud spirit clearly appears to be embedded deep into the culture here at Lexington Golf and Country Club , members helping , giving , contributing , donating time and effort for the sake of continuing on a very rich history . Thank you Mr . Rocket for your kind words and taking a few minutes to share with me some of the stories that make Lexington Golf and Country Club a very special place for club members and guests to have fun and enjoyable experiences .
Speaking of fun and enjoyable experiences , please mark your calendars now for what will prove to be a memorable Memorial Day weekend at the club . Yes , the pool will be opening Memorial Day weekend , but wait , there ’ s more . There ’ s a fun new two-day tournament this year being hailed as the Stars and Stripes , formatted in a Ryder Cup style where rumors are already circulating Captains Neal Lineberry and James Owens have already begun a strategic warfare of words !
