LADIES WINTER GOLF

Ladies Winter Golf

Hello lady golfers . The weather is still cold , wet and gray but we are thinking ahead to the 2021 golf season . I have been asked , as the Wednesday ladies committee chair to tell you a little about Wednesday golf last year and to encourage you to play again this coming season and to urge your friends to join us .
The Covid pandemic did change the format for our Wednesday golf but it did not keep lady golfers from coming out and playing . We had lots of fun , but there were no prize competitions , and we did add a 9-hole walkers ’ group to our Wednesday mornings , giving the ladies several options . The 9 holers started about 8:15 a . m . and the 18-hole riders started at their regular time of 9 a . m . This scenario worked very well and once in a while a 9-hole walker joined the 18 holers at the turn . Our turnout for the Wednesdays that I tracked was really great . For those 10 Wednesdays , we had an average of 14 golfers . We had a young high schooler from the first tee program who joined us regularly , as well as many new golfers , along with the lady veterans who have played for years .
In these challenging times , we can play golf more safely than we can do a lot of other things . So we encourage you to come out and join us . We have options — you can walk 9 holes or ride for 18 holes or mix and match to suit your wishes . Any way you do it , it ’ s lots of fun !
See you on the golf course soon ! Helen Wilkinson
