The Kids’ Fishing Clinic is from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. at the Weaver Lake Park Fishing Pier, 8401 Maple Grove Parkway. Learn casting skills, bait information from the Weaver Lake Conservation Association. Fishing poles and bait are provided.
A Sensory-Friendly Tent will be available from 11 a. m. to 4 p. m. on the southwest side of the Phenow Pavilion at Central Park. Toneworks will be hosting a calm, welcoming space designed to support individuals who may need a break from the loudness and crowds. There will be comfortable spaces to relax, music therapists will be available to guide and support, and a calming creative activity to try.
Search for coins in the sand at Bridges Park, 12250 82nd Ave.( next to Central Park). Hunt for buried tokens and ice cream treat coins from Culver’ s, starting at noon. Two groupings will embark on the hunt – children ages 3-5 and ages 6-8.
Kids and adults alike won’ t want to miss the evening culminating with a spectacular fireworks display. It begins at dusk. This year the fireworks will be near the lake at Central Park.
Sunday events
A handful of events will round out the big weekend Sunday, July 20.
Start the morning off at the pancake breakfast at the Osseo- Maple Grove American Legion, between 8 a. m. and noon.
Help the Maple Grove Fire Department celebrate 50 years at an open house at Fire Station 2( 13450 Maple Knoll Way) from noon to 4 p. m. The event

Mini golf, obstacle course, bean bag toss, milk can toss, yard dart game and more can be found at the Kids’ Fun Galore area from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. on Saturday, July 19.
will start with a brick-laying memorial for inaugural members who have passed away. Afterward, get a tour of the station, check out the various trucks, firefighter water wars and more.
Plant a flower in a pot to take home at Lynde Greenhouse and Nursery, 9293 Pineview Lane,
between 1 and 3 p. m.
Don’ t forget to stop by the Maple Grove History Museum for its open house from 1-4 p. m. The museum is located at 9030 Forestview Lane.

runners to ensure the safety of everyone. Ribbons will be presented to each participant. This event is free but a signed waiver is needed prior to participation. People may print the waiver at mgco. org and bring it with them or complete a waiver upon arrival.
Offered again this year is a chance to donate shoes to people in need in Guyana, South America. Please bring new or gently used shoes to the run as a donation. All sizes and types are being collected.
