Find summer fun for children at Maple Grove Days

A variety of fun summer events and activities have been designed for children of all ages to experience during Maple Grove Days, July 16-20.
Bring the whole family for music and dancing, creativity and educational instruction, relaxation and camaraderie. Don’ t forget the camera for family photo opportunities.
There are no events this year at the Community Center because of the construction that is currently underway.
The Maple Grove Days Virtual Art Contest runs July 16- 20. Children ages 11-18 can enter. There are two age group divisions. The theme is“ Favorite Things in Maple Grove.” Free to enter and prizes to be won. Winners will be announced via email and on the Maple Grove Parks and Recreation Facebook page. Contact the Maple Grove Teen Center for submission information.
Thursday events The Town Green slate kicks off with a performance by Tricia and the Toonies on Thursday, July 17, at 10:30 a. m. Come and enjoy some child-friendly music and puppets.
Bring the whole family to see the Maple Grove Days Parade on Thursday evening, starting at 6:30 p. m. along 89th Avenue. Over 100 parade units provide entertainment, involvement, laughs and toe tapping. Stay safe behind the white line along the curb and do not run into the street for the candy. Parade participants have been directed to hand candy to parade watchers.
Friday events
People can make their way to Town Green on Friday evening, July 18, for a go-to destination for interactive activities.
Those darling Diaper Derby baby racers will provide entertainment as they navigate the open grass on their way to the finish line at 6:30 p. m. Waiting parents, grandparents and siblings encourage babies and toddlers to travel the distance.

The Kids’ Fishing Clinic is from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. on Saturday, July 19, at the Weaver Lake Park Fishing Pier, 8401 Maple Grove Parkway. Learn casting skills, bait information from the Weaver Lake Conservation Association. Fishing poles

A petting zoo will be in a new location this year on Saturday, July 19. Find all the lovable animals at Central Park.
Be entertained by DJ and Dancing: Bach to Rock when the park turns into party time from 6:45-8:45 p. m.
Dusk will be coming soon, so head to Town Green, find a special spot and settle in for the outdoor movie screening.“ Inside Out 2” will be shown on the amphitheater stage. Snacks will be available for purchase from various vendors and concessions.
Saturday events
An even bigger day of events is Saturday, July 19.
Partner up with a favorite adult and get ready to learn about geocaching between 9 a. m. and noon, in the beautiful setting of the Nature Center behind Weaver Lake Elementary, at 15900 Weaver Lake Road.
Check out the Big Truck Show from 9 a. m. to 3 p. m. on the lawn area outside of Life Time.
From 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. the Maple Grove Lion’ s Club will be offering a community eyesight screening for children in the Lion’ s Kids Sight booth in Central Park.
For a good workout, participate in the Kids’ Fun Run at Central Park at 9:30 a. m. Kids will run / walk around the picturesque lake, which is a 0.8 mile route. Maple Grove Police will escort runners to ensure the safety of everyone.
Be the first to shout“ Bingo!” during the family-favorite game between 10 a. m. and noon inside the Phenow building at Central Park.
Check out the Family Fun Zone area at Central Park from 10 a. m. to 9 p. m. There will be bounce houses, interactive games, bungee jumpers, robotics, face painting, crazy hair, glitter tattoos and games. Tickets for rides range between 1 to 15 tickets. The ticket booth will be located on the Great lawn in front of the area.
The Ninja United Obstacle Course and Running Wall can’ t be missed as children strive to be that special warrior. Remember to bring socks. Open from 10 a. m. to 9 p. m. in Central Park.
Mini golf, obstacle course, bean bag toss, milk can toss, yard darts and more can be found at the Kids’ Fun Galore area from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m.
Head over to the Kids’ Craft Tent between 10 a. m. and 1 p. m. to create a craft at Central Park.
Back this year is the Joah’ s Ark Petting Zoo from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. at Central Park. There is a $ 1 cost to feed the animals.
Don’ t forget to check out the incredible cars on display at the Classic Car Show on the Main Street from 10 a. m. to 3 p. m.
Feeling hungry? Head to the Food Zone area in the parking lot of Central Park. The everpopular Lions Corn Feed makes for messy, buttery fingers and faces from 11 a. m. to 6 p. m. The Food Zone will be open from 10 a. m. to 10 p. m. and offer menu options from Nautical Bowls, Crumbl, Pizza Karma, Chili
