Teens invited to play, compete, create at Maple Grove Days
There is no reason for teens to be bored during Maple Grove Days, which will offer a variety of activities during the festival, July 16 to 20.
Teens can get involved by gathering a team for a competition, participating individually in any event, or attending the festival with friends while strolling the grounds enjoying music, food, games and exhibits.
There are no events this year at the Community Center because of the construction that is currently underway there.
The Maple Grove Days Virtual Art Contest runs every day of the festival. Children ages 11- 18 can enter the contest, which is free and offers two age-group divisions. The theme is“ Favorite Things in Maple Grove.” Prize winners will be announced via email and on the Maple Grove Parks and Recreation Facebook page. Thursday features the spectacular Maple Grove Days Parade along 89th Avenue. Find that perfect spot with family and friends to view the marching bands, visiting groups, organizations and local businesses.
Friday, July 18
Friday offers a variety of indoor and outdoor events. Head to Three Rivers Eagle Lake Golf Course by 8 a. m. and try those golfing skills at the Junior Golf Tournament. Preregistration is required. Deadline is July 14, or until full.
Join in on the largest game of capture the flag you will ever play from 3 to 5 p. m. Two teams form strategies while fielding their way into the opposing team’ s territory in an attempt to grab the flag and return“ safe” without being tagged. Teams are formed upon arrival, so bring some friends and join the game. Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate shoes for running and to bring their own drinking water. For ages 11-17 at Weaver Lake Park.
Rollerskating at Central Park is happening from 6 to 8:30 p. m. People can bring their skates( inline / roller) or borrow some to show off their skills or try something new. There will be over 200 roller skates available to borrow in a large selection of sizes, completely free. Attendees can expect fun lighting, music, photo opportunities and more.
Watch the crowning of the new Maple Grove Ambassadors during the coronation from 7 to 9 p. m. at Maple Grove Middle School, 7000 Hemlock Lane.

Head to the Nature Park behind Weaver Lake School and get into the action with geocaching from 9 a. m. to noon on Saturday, July 19.

Channel your inner track talent and take on the Jim Deane Memorial Rice Lake Classic Run starting at 8 a. m.
Stretch, exercise and get in shape at a Jazzercise workout at 8 a. m. at Central Park.
Ready for another searching activity? Head to the Nature Park behind Weaver Lake School and get into the action with geocaching from 9 a. m. to noon.
Push the limits in the Ninja United Obstacle Course and Running Wall with a choice of two levels of difficulty. Bring socks. The course is open from 10 a. m. to 9 p. m. in Central Park.
For those who appreciate clean lines and shiny chrome, the car show has some pretty nice rides to check out. Vehicles will line Main Street near the Town Green from 10 a. m. to 3 p. m.
The MN ESports Club gaming buses will be available from 10 a. m. to 6 p. m. at the skating loop at Central Park.
Join Northwest Metro Robotics to design and launch straw rockets. The organizations will also have drivable robots. Find them in the Family Fun Zone at Central Park from 10 a. m. to 9 p. m.
Need a sit-down activity? The Phenow building at Central Park invites people inside for a game of bingo( or several) from 1-7 p. m.
The Nerf Blaster Battle is from 4:30 to 6:30 p. m. at Central Park. The event uses toy Nerf blasters with foam darts along with paintball bunkers( inflatables) for a series of games that promote outreach, inclusion, team building, and health and wellness. Free. Bring a nonperishable food donation for CROSS Services. Project My Neighborhood is a local nonprofit that hosts all ages Nerf events and supplies rental equipment for private events throughout the Twin Cities.
Travel down Main Street and view the ever-popular bed races, starting at 5 p. m. It is crazy, loud, cheering fun.
Don’ t forget to stay for the fireworks, always a highlight of the weekend. The show begins at dusk at Central Park.
