training date you are recalling some positions too early and others too late. Although a training score was already calculated and used, the impact was not perfect.
In CPT 3.3 each position had a training score between 0 and 100 percent. You had to play the correct candidate move for ten times to achieve 100 percent( thus 30 % or 70 % were possible scores). CPT 4 knows only three states for a position: learned,( probably) forgotten, not trained yet
In CPT 4, you can decide to learn new positions by choosing one of these training modes( e. g.“ Complete Line” or“ Filter”) or recall learned positions. This solves the general issue of having to train all new positions first. A space repetition concept makes sure you focus on the right positions and recall positions more efficiently. The program takes care of this in the background and shows you in a calendar overview when you have to recall scheduled positions. More about this in the Training Module( p. 65) section.
Finally one specific new training option is worth to be highlighted. You can combine the“ complete line” mode with the option“ first new positions”. This can be described as the best of the“ filter” and the“ complete line” mode. New positions can be learned in a connected way, but similar to the filter mode you don’ t play complete lines. Give it a try, it is a very efficient way to learn new openings.
1.5.3 Tactic and Middle Games
In CPT 4 you can only manage openings at the moment. Therefore neither can you import PGN files which don’ t begin with the start position nor can you setup positions. Future version will support again positions which can’ t be reached by any move order from the start position.
1.5.4 Converting your old CPT 3.3 Repertoire Database to CPT 4
There is a special import function for old CPT 3.3 repertoires. First of all you have to create a new CPT 4 database. Then you can use the import function which you can find in the“ repertoire element” ribbon section or in the context menu if you right-click on a folder or opening.
