PART 2 • Endgame tablebases (chess king pro – gold only)
Go to the long panel near the bottom of the screen, and click the small
button that looks like a crossed hammer and wrench (seen near the
upper left corner of the illustration below):
• This brings up a new dialogue which allows you to change various
technical settings relating to the Houdini chess engine. Find the line
labeled “Nalimov path”:
• You can use the space provided to manually type the path to the folder
in which you've stored your tablebases if you wish. You can also click
the small button to the far right (which looks like a manila file folder) to
display a dialogue which shows all of your hard drive's folders, from
which you can simply select the location of your endgame tablebases.
Click close when you're finished.
• Now that the preliminaries are complete, we're ready to learn more
about the Chess King user interface (computer talk for the stuff that's
on your screen when you're using Chess King!)
