A SHORTCUT FOR SETTING
UP OPENING POSITIONS
We learned about setting up positions in Chapter 8. If you're setting up
an opening position (like the Caro-Kann variation we were just looking
at), you can often use an opening tree as a way to set up the position
quickly; in fact, it's how I set up that very Caro-Kann position. Many chess
programs will let you click or double-click on a move in a chess tree to
make that move on the board. So I just stepped through the opening tree
move by move until I got to the position after 11.Bd2. Bingo! Easy position
setup!
