PARENT UNIVERSITY SERIES AIMS TO EMPOWER FAMILIES
Mansfield ISD ’ s Parent and Family Engagement department launched Parent University , a series of educational events that aims to empower , inform and engage families .
“ Parent University focuses on building foundational skills of the curriculum and instruction ,” said Dr . Tamara Liddell , director of federal programs . “ This provides parents with the necessary tools to support their children in their learning and engage with them .”
During a recent event , attendees learned how to make energy bite snacks thanks to a live demo from the MISD student nutrition department . Also , children who attended the event were given math card games , which support the district ’ s strategic plan to ensure students are proficient in algebra .
Through this fall ’ s Parent University series , families also learned about effective communication tools they can use when engaging with their children and tactics to help students succeed . Finally , attendees were able to hear from experts in therapy , principals , inspirational speakers , a college professor and social worker .

COMMUNITY INVITED TO HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS AT THE CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

Toys for Tots Community Drive and Celebration Mansfield ISD is partnering with the U . S Marine Corps Reserve to support their mission of spreading the joy of the season to families in need in their annual Toys for Tots community drive and holiday event on Thursday , Nov . 30 from 5 p . m . - 10:30 p . m .
Holiday Dance Spectacular Be transported through a night of amazing music , dance and seasonal magic as the Mansfield ISD Fine Arts department features its student dancers . The annual holiday event will be held on Saturday , Dec . 2 for two shows at 2 p . m . and 7 p . m . General admission is $ 10 . Students , staff , seniors and military admission tickets are $ 5 . The Art Ballet Academy Presents The Nutcracker Join Mansfield ISD and the Art Ballet Academy on Dec . 16 as they present the iconic holiday story , The Nutcracker . Two performances will be held Saturday , Dec . 16 at 2 p . m . and 6 p . m . All ticket sales ( online and box office ) are by credit card only . No cash will be accepted .
