OWEN SKINNER, LEGACY HIGH SCHOOL, SENIOR
1. I like this program because I get to bond with the kids and help them play games they don’ t usually play.
2. This program shapes me as a person because I learned to not judge people by the way they look or act because you don’ t know their backstory.
3. This lets me let them be kids and play games with each other, and they have more friends that play sports with them.
RAIGAN BRANNON, LAKE RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL, CLASS OF 2023
1. I like this program because it allowed me to connect with people that I usually do not get the opportunity to. This program also allows you to put life into a different perspective.
2. I want to be a special education teacher, so this gave me the perfect glimpse into what it would be like to work with students with disabilities. Getting to hang out and work with them every day really helped shape me because I look forward to my future every day now.
3. It helped the person I was partnered with because he would not get involved in anything, and when I partnered with him he started to participate. He looked forward to seeing me every day, which helped with my everyday life because even if my world was falling apart I had someone that looked forward to seeing me.
MORGAN GOLDTHWAITE, LAKE RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL, JUNIOR
1. I like the peer assistance program because I feel good knowing I’ m making someone’ s day better whether it’ s from this program or not, and I like that it wakes me up in the mornings.
2. I think this program shapes me as a person because I want to be a kind person throughout my life, and I know that many people wouldn’ t do this program unless they had something in it for them, but I am doing it because I want to and because I love knowing that the kids enjoy it, too.
3. These kids need positive attention and it benefits their mental heath, and I am happy to be the one making their day.
