DISTRICT-WIDE LIGHTING UPGRADES PROGRESSING
LED lighting upgrades are moving forward throughout the district, enhancing energy efficiency and improving learning environments. Installations have already been completed at Wester Middle School, Cross Timbers Intermediate, D. P. Morris Elementary, Gideon Elementary, Donna Shepard Intermediate, Mary Orr Elementary, T. A. Howard Middle School, and Summit High School.
Excel Energy Group is continuing work at several additional campuses, with current projects underway at Worley Middle School and the RLA Complex.
Furniture Replacement: Orders are in for Summit High School and Mary Orr, and delivery is slated to begin this summer.
Tennis Court Lights: One 2024 Bond project already completed is the installation of tennis court lights at all district locations.
Roofing: Multiple roofing projects are projected to begin this summer. Roofs will be replaced at Donna Shepard, Cross Timbers, Willie Brown, and D. P. Morris.
6TH AVENUE BUS FACILITY UPDATE
Geotechnical investigations for the 6th Avenue Bus Facility are completed, marking a key milestone in the project’ s progress. Design development is now actively underway in collaboration with Huckabee and Smith & Company Architects.
In recent weeks, multiple planning meetings have taken place, bringing together representatives from Transportation Services, the MISD Bond Projects Team, and Smith & Company Architects to ensure alignment on project goals and design priorities.
OTHER UPDATES
New Buses: To date, MISD has received 25 new special education buses and 62 of 66 new regular buses ordered with bond funds.
